All
fish types are very healthy.they are high in protein, low in fat
and contain a high proportion of essential vitamins, trace elements
and minerals. There are also many different ways to prepare it,
fried, grilled, smoked, stuffed, coated in breadcrumbs or batter,
steamed, cooked in wines etc. etc.
There are 2 different types of fish, sea fish eg. Ocean perch, cod,
haddock, halibut, plaice, dover sole, eel, mackerel and herring.
Freshwater fish e.g. pike, salmon trout, carp, brown trout, whitefish,
pike- perch, tench and catfish.
A few examples;
Raw fish is used for Japenese Sushi, Maki etc, it is marinated
in vinegar for roll mops.
Tuna fish is very versatile, it is most often sold in cans for
use in salads or on pizzas in sandwiches or omelettes.
Shellfish
For the main meal or salads
Lobster,shrimps,prawns,oysters,scampi,…..the
sea has a lot to offer. From a restaurant, shellfish are usually
very expensive, buying direct is also not cheap, but shellfish
are something special, to fry, barbecue, on a pizza, with spaghetti,
prawn cocktail, in curries, there is so much that can be done
with this versatile food. They lend themselves also, to the cook
who would like to experiment with different sauces or spices.
Shellfish are certainly to be enjoyed.
