With pepper we have the choice of black, white, green and more seldom red, it originates from India and can be bought ground or in corns. Green and red pepper are usually sold in corn form in salt water. Pepper used to be a very expensive commodity.

a new route to India stumbled across it in an attempt to break
the monopoly that Venice had over pepper
