What people can think up and what some people will attempt to eat. |
 Sometimes
it is hard to believe just what some people will think up where
food is concerned! At the moment we have people who claim they have
seen the clothes of Pope Benedict on a schnitzel, or cheese sandwiches
that look like the shape of the Holy Mary. Unfortunately these sort
of claims have only one aim….whoever thought of them wants
to make some quick, easy money.
The onset of Ebay has led to people trying their luck more and more in the auction rooms, taking pictures of their “wonder” foods and waiting for vunerabl people to pay high prices for their works of art, or trickery, depending how cynical you are! If you have found something funny, weird or simply ridiculous in one of the auction rooms, please share it with us all.
Here the Japanese probabally hold the records for eating the strangest foods. Grilled grasshoppers or insects covered in chocolate, how about their new exotic range of ice-cream, with the taste of fish…yuk. In Thailand where they love their open markets and grilled foods, how about grilled maggots, worms, beetles, or cockroaches, not forgetting of course, the grasshoppers! In Iceland there are two fish dishes that
only an Icelandic stomach can manage without everlasting damage.
The poisonous ice shark, which is left in a barrel for 6 weeks
without any sort of preservatives such as salt to stop the fish
going mouldy and then cut up and left to dry for another 4 months,
before ready for consumption.
