The
nutritional pyramid divides food into the various amounts we should
eat, so that we remain fit and healthy.
The pyramid has 4 levels. The bottom level,
which is the biggest, comprises the food that we should eat the
most of. These foods are rich in carbohydrates and whole wheat,
such as whole wheat bread, musli, potatoes, dried fruit and pulses.
From this group of food we should eat plenty every day.
The next level is fresh fruit and vegetables,
that we should also eat small portions of a few times a day
The third level comprises milk and milk products,
meat and fish. Also important in our diet, but not to be eaten
in too great a quantities.
Lastly, we have sweets, cakes, biscuits and
crisps at the top of the pyramid, these foods should be eaten
sparingly, as they have no nutritional value in our diet and are
responsible for weight gain.
