Whisky
is a spirit distilled from malted grain, the favourite being barley.
There are various types of whisky. Whisky with the name of Scotch
comes only from Scotland, where it has spent a minimum of 3 years
in an oak barrel before it is ready to be drunk. This long ripening
period gives the scotch a unique toasted taste. Scotch is a blended
whisky.
Irish whisky comes from a region near to where
the scotch whisky is produced. Irish whisky has an intensiver
taste as scotch.
Straight Rye whisky comes from Canada, it has a higher concentration
of rye grain than the other sorts of whisky. Straight American
whisky comes (as we would expect!)from America, the whisky is
ripened for 2 years in oak barrels.
Straight Bourbon whisky is similar to the
American whisky, but it has an extra proportion of corn grain
which gives it its original taste. Last but not least comes Tennessee
whisky, which is made with help from charcoal.
