Wine
has been drunk for over 8000 years, about 2000 years ago, the Romans
brought the secrets of vineyards to france and later to Germany.
Although wine can be made out of many different fruits, honey and
grapes, it can only be called wine when it is made from just grapes.
All other fruit wines must be so named eg. cherry wine, apple wine.
Wine is an important part of our social scene, when friends come
round in the evening, wine will often be offered. Mixed with water
in the summer, it is a refreshing drink without too much alcohol.
The alcohol content is between about 9-14%.
Wine can be bought relatively inexpensively for every day drinking,
but for the real wine expert, the sky can be the limit for the price
they are prepared to pay, for example, for a rare Bordeaux.
